L’Dor V’Dor — “from generation to generation” in Hebrew — is Beth El Hebrew Congregation’s planned giving program, allowing members to leave a lasting gift to Beth El through a will, trust, or beneficiary designation on a life insurance or retirement account.
This “tomorrow” gift complements your current support of the congregation and helps ensure a vibrant future for Beth El. All gifts are received into the Beth El Hebrew Congregation Permanent Endowment Fund, which has served the congregation for over 40 years, funding needs like HVAC repairs, facility upgrades, prayer books, and annual mortgage payments.
Joining is simple: There is no minimum gift, no requirement to disclose amounts, and no need to share full estate documents. Just complete our brief Confidential Declaration of Bequest Intention form and return it to . Participants are encouraged to be recognized publicly, though anonymous participation is welcome.
Each participant works with their own legal and financial advisors to implement their bequest. If you’ve already made a bequest to Beth El, please reach out so we can recognize your generosity.
Background and Mission
Beth El Hebrew Congregation’s Permanent Endowment Fund (PEF) was established in 1981 by 13 visionary families. The mission of the PEF is to ensure the long-term financial stability of Beth El Hebrew Congregation and to perpetuate the Jewish life of its congregants now and into the future.
How to Support the Permanent Endowment Fund
Donations are always welcome and can be made online by clicking the Donate button in the top right of the website – be sure to select “Permanent Endowment Fund” on the drop-down menu under “payment type” – or by mailing a check to the Beth El Office with “Permanent Endowment Fund” written in the note section of the check.
A donor attains voting Membership status once their cumulative donations reach $500. The donor reaches Sponsor status above $1,500 in cumulative donations and Visionary status above $5,000 in cumulative donations.
Please contact any of the PEF trustees listed below or the Beth El office for more information.
How the PEF Supports Beth El
In recent years the PEF has supported over $50,000 per year in projects at Beth El, helping to ensure the sustainability of the building, facilities, and resources that support our community. They include replacement of five HVAC units, new and replacement High Holiday prayer books for adult and youth services, full furniture replacement in the foyer and mediation room and servicing 100% of the payments on Beth El’s mortgage.
Permanent Endowment Fund Trustees
As an auxiliary organization to Beth El Hebrew Congregation, the PEF has its own charter and is managed by up to seven trustees elected by the PEF membership. Trustees are nominated by the membership and serve three-year terms beginning in June of each year. The 2025-2026 trustees are:
